The smart Automobile Co., Ltd. is a 50/50 joint venture between Mercedes-Benz AG and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, established in 2019. The smart Europe GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of smart Automobile Co., Ltd. and has been established to supply, sell and service future smart vehicles in the European market.

After completing his university degree in international business at different universities across Europe and the U.S., Wolfgang Ufer began his career in 1999 by joining the newly established eBusiness of Mercedes-Benz. In his following role as Head of Business Development Centers (BDC) & Lead Management, he was responsible for the development and rollout of BDC in numerous European dealerships. In 2009, he took over a new challenge as a board member for Marketing, Product Management & Business Development at Mercedes-Benz Luxembourg, successfully repositioning Mercedes-Benz in the Luxembourg market.

Mr. Martin Günther, CFO of smart Europe GmbH, brings in extensive knowledge in the field of finance. Martin has worked for Daimler since 2005, holding management positions within Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH and Daimler Global Service & Parts Operations.
