smart Has Completed First Testing of New Generation All-Electric SUV Prototype

Summary

Shortly following the first release of the all new concept car exterior sketches, smart, the premium all-electric automobile and technology brand, has successfully tested its new generation all-electric SUV prototype at Yancheng Automotive Proving Ground, located at the China Automotive Technology & Research Centre. The vehicle showcased mature engineering R&D status, performing beyond expectation.

During the test, the vehicle was tested on various road conditions, including extreme driving conditions, displaying excellent performance in areas such as NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness), ride and handling, linear acceleration, emergency braking etc. “The R&D team will make full use of the valuable data obtained from this test to improve the overall performance of the vehicle for the coming stages”, said Mr. Yang Jun, Vice President of Research and Development, smart Automobile Co., Ltd. “Thanks all of our stakeholders for their strong support, the vehicle’s technical maturity is progressing rapidly.”

From a technical perspective, the vehicle shows the ideal synthesis of premium design and all the technical features we wanted to achieve.”

The all-new smart concept car will celebrate its world premiere at the Munich International Auto Show (IAA) in September this year, while the new generation all-electric SUV will be launched in 2022. With the introduction of the new generation vehicle, smart will deliver an all-electric mobility experience with premium, high-tech elements to avant-garde trendsetters and young urban families alike, realizing the vision to design a smarter future!
