Mr. Tong Xiangbei has been appointed the Global CEO of smart, to preside over the brand operations covering sales, marketing, R&D, production and aftersales. Mr. Tong Xiangbei has accumulated 28 years of experience in the automotive industry. Before joining smart Automobile, he took charge of global automotive OEMs both in the United States and in China.

Mr. Tong Xiangbei has more than 2 decades of experience in the automotive industry. He has made considerable contributions to the development of Geely Auto Group since his enrolment in 2015. He led the completion of the flagship Lynk & Co production facility in Zhangjiakou City, which has an annual capacity of over 200,000 cars relying on Geely’s flagship architecture and powertrains. Mr. Tong Xiangbei has made outstanding contributions to the development of Geely Group by playing multiple roles such as leading the development and construction of future industrial projects.

Mr. Tong Xiangbei obtained his bachelor’s degree in automotive and internal combustion engine design from Beijing Polytechnic University in 1996. He then started a career in the auto industry by working as a mechanical engineer at a Beijing-based automotive services company before joining Ford China in 1998. Mr. Tong then spent more than 17 years working at Ford’s global facilities across the USA, China and the Asia Pacific region, during which he oversaw the development of a range of new global assembly plants and led the successful launch of multiple new models.
