October 22, 2025, Hangzhou, China. The smart #5, the brand’s first-ever premium mid-size SUV, has earned yet another prestigious accolade. Following its recognition with a Red Dot Product Design Award, the model’s HMI (human-machine interface) has now been honored with the Red Dot Award for Brands & Communication Design in the “Interface & User Experience Design” category.

Styled by Mercedes-Benz: Display and usability design

The smart #5's human-machine interface embodies the brand's “Love, Pure, Unexpected” design philosophy, creating a distinctive digital visual experience for users. The new User Interface integrates a 3D environment and features a clear, intuitive and readable low-poly style, which is characteristic of the smart brand. The interface offers individually selectable home screen designs – including Planet, Vehicle, Navigation and Customized Scenario – allowing users to personalize their screen content. Powered by the smart Operating System, the HMI elevates the user interaction through refined visualizations, smooth transitions, and engaging animations, creating a dynamic and futuristic-looking user interface. The advanced AMD V2000 chipset, paired with two 13-inch AMOLED displays, ensures a seamless user engagement.
