Lucio Tropea is the CEO of smart Italia S.r.l. He was previously employed as Head of Global Marketing e-Mobility at Enel X and as Head of Sales for smart at Mercedes-Benz Italia.
Lucio gained his university degree in economics in 2003, submitting a master´s thesis on the car distribution effects of EU block exemption regulation. After experience in an automotive consultancy and research firm, he joined Mercedes-Benz Italia as a market analyst in the used-car department.
He remained in the used-car business, covering different roles in residual value/portfolio risk management until he assumed the role of Head of Remarketing and the certified pre-owned program.
Between 2015 and 2018, Lucio led smart as Head of Sales in Italy, overseeing customer satisfaction for the third-generation smart fortwo and forfour. In 2018, he joined Enel X as Head of Global Marketing e-Mobility, where he contributed to defining the charging-solutions portfolio as well as putting together automotive partnership agreements to enhance the adoption of e-mobility.
