smart has achieved notable industry recognition and user acclaim for its commitment to environmental standards, setting new benchmarks across multiple areas. In 2023, the smart #3 Pro+ received a top five-star rating from Green NCAP, underscoring smart’s focus on efficiency and reducing environmental impact. This dedication is further evident in the smart #1 carbon footprint certification, which aligns with the ISO 14067 standard, “Greenhouse gases – Carbon footprint of products – Requirements and guidelines for quantification.” By implementing a certified vehicle carbon footprint accounting system, smart is setting a clear path toward net-zero emissions, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to vehicle electrification and decarbonization throughout the entire value chain.

As part of a comprehensive sustainability strategy, smart relies on environmentally friendly materials, with a recoverability rate of over 95% for all smart models in the line-up in all European markets. Through the integration of recyclable steel and aluminum in vehicle production, smart implements the principles of the circular economy.
