To design a smarter future, smart embraces co-creation, building on global expertise and local knowledge now also provided through the R&D center in Renningen.

With the introduction of the all-new smart #1, the company is not only launching a new car but also starting a new chapter for the brand with new goals for the organization. This includes the close collaboration of the smart Europe team and seamless integration with the engineering of smart Automobile Co., Ltd. in China. Especially on the research and development side a strong alliance between smart's dual home in Europe and China has been established.

To ensure the all-new smart #1 meets all European needs and requirements, market homologation, law and regulation conformity, testing and quality management with focus on customer requirements are carried out by the R&D team in the south of Germany. In addition to that, vehicle functionality testing and implementation of countermeasures for system issues is one of the core tasks located in the Renningen facility.
