smart Europe GmbH was founded in June 2020 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of smart mobility International Pte. Ltd., a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz AG and Geely Holding Group. smart Europe’s international team is responsible for all sales, marketing and after-sales activities for the next generation of smart vehicles, products and services of the brand in the European market.

After completing his university degree in international business at different universities across Europe and the U.S., Wolfgang Ufer began his career in 1999 by joining the newly established eBusiness of Mercedes-Benz. In his following role as Head of Business Development Centers (BDC) & Lead Management, he was responsible for the development and rollout of BDC in numerous European dealerships. In 2009, he took over a new challenge as a board member for Marketing, Product Management & Business Development at Mercedes-Benz Luxembourg, successfully repositioning Mercedes-Benz in the Luxembourg market.
