April 22, 2026, Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany. smart, the contemporary premium EV brand, marked a new chapter in its evolution at the smart Global Brand Event held in Beijing today. Spotlighted by the highly anticipated global debut of the smart Concept #21 and the world premiere of the smart #6 EHD2, the event under the motto “Change of Perspectives” showcased how smart is actively accelerating its expansion planning. With a design-focused exhibition and presentation, the international executives of the brand emphasized the strategic growth of its product portfolio from three to five models this year on a global scale.

Unconventional. Again. smart Concept #2 Debut

In an exciting global first, smart unveiled the smart Concept #2, the first physical expression of the highly anticipated all-electric smart #2. Guided by the brand's overarching design philosophy of "Love, Pure, Unexpected," the Concept #2 is exclusively styled by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team. Adopting a unique "Function becomes Fashion" lens, it elevates the city car beyond mere utility. Reduced to its essence, the pure and compact silhouette serves as an effortless canvas for individuality. This is consistently brought to life through generous volumes, a striking matte white and warm gold two-tone palette, and fine leather hardware, while hidden, unexpected details playfully emerge beneath translucent surfaces. Engineered on smart's all-new, self-developed proprietary Electric Compact Architecture (ECA), the upcoming series-production model smart #2 will represent the reinvention of the ultimate two-seater city car.

Beyond its iconic aesthetic, the Concept #2 was created to illustrate how to deliver uncompromised urban capability. The design concept model features smart's signature "wheels-at-the-corners" setup, brilliantly maximizing interior space within just 2,792mm of total length. The smart Concept #2 also showcases unmatched agility with a tight 6,95-meter turning circle for effortless city manoeuvring.

The unconventional statement for creativity is designed to be powered by smart’s advanced and newly developed ECA platform, which will set new standards for modern electric performance. With the Concept #2, the brand envisions an electric range of up to nearly 300 kilometres3 and DC fast-charging that would charge from 10% to 80% power in under 20 minutes. Also part of the design concept model are innovative Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities that keep modern urban lifestyles fully charged on the go. Highly anticipated by urban drivers around the globe, the production model of the smart #2 as the new fortwo is set to make its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026.

A Segment Trendsetter for China: smart #6 EHD World Premiere

Marking smart’s first entry into the premium fastback sedan segment, the #6 EHD made its world premiere at the Global Brand Event 2026, and will be launching exclusively in China. Created by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team, the smart #6 EHD pairs executive-level spaciousness with a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette inspired by a shark, delivering a presence that is elegant at rest and razor-sharp in motion.

Styled by Mercedes-Benz in Europe and intelligently crafted in China, smart now brings its contemporary premium NEV vehicles to 40 markets globally.
