smart has taken another important step in making e-mobility easily accessible and feasible for daily use. smart is collaborating with Digital Charging Solutions GmbH (DCS), a leading provider of digital OEM charging services that enables access to more than 460.000 charging points across Europe. smart has now officially launched its charge@street service, which gives smart #1 drivers a seamless charging experience.

The collaboration will initially start in Germany, where the new smart #1 is already available to order. The smart charge@street service will then be rolled out successively in other European countries in line with the planned market launches. However, the service can already be used for charging outside Germany in 17 DCS markets in Europe via roaming.

The reliable network for en-route charging is embedded in a convenient digital ecosystem, the new Hello smart app. Through the app, drivers can now easily access and monitor charging events. Integrated information such as location, available connector type and general availability, make the charging process as convenient as possible.

On top, drivers can access the service via web and through the DCS charging card, which comes for free with every smart #1. The smart charge@street service only requires a one-time registration before enabling drivers to charge from 10 to 80 % in only 30 minutes.

Bernd Vollmayr, Chief Product Officer (CPO) of Digital Charging Solutions GmbH: "Charging infrastructure on the road is just as important as charging solutions at home. A key factor in driving this mobility wave forward is to give drivers of electric cars the best possible support in accessing a nationwide charging network. In DCS, smart has found a partner that not only shares this mindset but can deliver as well: DCS has an excellent and constantly growing public charging network with more than 460,000 charging points across Europe.”

Xuan-Zheng Goh, Head of Product Management smart Europe: “By integrating the smart charge@street service into the Hello smart app and in-car systems, we create a seamless user experience, making e-mobility even more effortless to integrate into everyday life - another important step towards the electric future of individual mobility."

The collaboration has now initially started in Germany, where the new smart #1 has already entered the market. The smart charge@street service will then be rolled out successively in other European countries in line with the planned market launches of the smart #1. Outside Germany, however, the service can already be used for charging in the 17 other DCS markets in Europe via roaming.
